Printex is pleased to announce that an exclusive arrangement has been reached with the OEM of a very special water wash photopolymer plate. We have named this material the G2-73 plate. |
After many months of exhaustive testing in our own printing facility and with the help of some key customers (with very demanding requirements) acting as beta test sites, we concluded that this material is indeed a superior product.
G2-73 water wash plate has been available now for more than 18 months and during this time, over 60% of our customers have switched to this plate. So far all the results have been positive. We would like the rest of our customers to get on board with the G2-73 plate in order to enjoy the immediate benefits and advantages that this product has to offer. |

Product description:
The G2-73 plate is a water wash; high resolution and high durometer photopolymer plate with superior graphic; process; and production advantages:
Graphic advantages:
- The chemical composition of the G2-73 plate gives these plates exclusive advantages over other photopolymer plates:
- High resolution images (up to 300 dpi with screened artwork) combined with consistent and controllable depth of etch.
- Extremely fine line art work ie; less than 0.005” line width can be accomplished through “no screen” solid art work using single exposures.
- More forgiving to less opaque film positives.
Process advantages:
- Water development eliminates any chemistry variables associated with alcohol developers.
- Requires less exposure, bake and post cure times.
- G2-73 is the only photopolymer plate that is fully compatible and best performing material for direct to plate laser imaging.

Production advantages:
- G2-73 plate is not as hydroscopic as other photopolymer plates therefore this plate when fully cured, will not expand or soften with humidity causing “sticking” problems with ink cups.
- Works well with closed-cup, and open-well inking systems.
- The G2-73 plate has a surface hardness of 75 durometer. This is harder than most photopolymer plates, and hardness is directly related to plate life.
Cost advantage:
- Shipping and disposing of alcohol is becoming increasingly expensive. Water is readily available and almost free
- Shorter process time saves labor. Less mistakes or problems saves down time and the need to remake plates for the same job.
In summary:
Printex still offers a variety of photopolymer plates made by various companies, and within this group, some materials perform better than others. We have found over time that the G2-73 plate material has the best qualities that the other materials offer without any of the negative issues such as varying quality and consistency from batch to batch.
The G2-73 plate is clearly the best choice and the only plate you will need regardless of what type of machine, inking system, or artwork requirements you may have.
